The Kent Delord House Museum

    Once the British Headquarters during the Battle of Plattsburgh, visitors can now walk through its rooms, furnished in the Victorian era. The museum is located at 35 Cumberland Avenue in downtown Plattsburgh and is open daily all year. Tours are self-guided; group tours are available by appointment.

Macdonough Monument

    Located on City Hall Place across from City Hall, this obelisk was conceived in 1914, 100 years after Commodore Macdonough's stunning victory over the British on Plattsburgh Bay during the Battle of Plattsburgh, but not dedicated until August 18, 1926 due to WWI. Detailed relief's depict weapons, armor, and other implements of war. Visitors may climb the monument during special events and festivals. For details, call the City Clerk's office at 563-7702.

City Hall

This 1918 Building was designed by John Russell Pope, who also designed the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. Located at 41 City Hall Place, City Hall is open during regular city business days from 8am - 4pm and during special festivities. A large mural display in the lobby depicts the rich and varied history of Plattsburgh. You can also see the large anchor from the British war ship "Confiance,"  which played a pivotal role in the Battle of Plattsburgh on September 11, 19814.

Champlain Valley Transportation Museum

This new museum is scheduled to begin public  activities in the late fall of 2003. Located on the "Old Plattsburgh Air Force Base"  CVTM will celebrate the rich history of transportation in the Champlain Valley. The centerpiece of the museum will be the Lozier Gallery celebrating the amazing story of the Lozier Family and their Luxury Car manufacturing plant located in Plattsburgh in the early 1900's.

Clinton County Historical Association Museum

See and feel the history of Plattsburgh and Clinton County walking through the Sailly-Warren House, which was the home of
pioneer Peter Sailly, first U.S. Customs agent for Northern New York, located on the Museum Campus on the former "Old Plattsburgh Air Base".  Various displays and exhibit create the texture and feel of the region. The museum is open daily all year. Tours are self-guided; group tours are available by appointment.

SUNY Plattsburgh Art Museum

Myers Fine Arts Building, Rugar Street - This art museum provides a visual art resource for the North Country and Plattsburgh State. The Burke Gallery is the museum's main exhibition space. The Rockwell Kent Gallery houses a permanent collection by Rockwell Kent and the college's permanent collection from around the world. The Nina Winkel Sculpture Court is a glass atrium covering over forty sculptures.

The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts

NCCCA is a non-profit, multi-arts center dedicated to the visual arts, music, and theater located in historic downtown Plattsburgh, New York. They offer workshops, educational programs, and art classes for children and adults.  These programs include weekly life drawing sessions, musical performances, poetry readings, theater workshops for children, and much more. NCCCA receives support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYCSA), the New York Multi-Arts Center (NYMAC) consortium, and through individual donations and grants.

War of 1812 Museum

Come learn about the war which historian’s have called the “Forgotten War,” the War of 1812.  Tour the Interpretive Center and explore the causes and effects of the War of 1812, and the significance of the Battle of Plattsburgh (September 11, 1814).  The Interpretive Center features graphic panels and artifacts, centered around a diorama depicting the battle.  Continue on to the changing exhibit area in the War of 1812 Museum, and the Key Bank Gallery home to the paintings Battle of Lake Champlain by Julian Davidson, Close Action by Dean Mosher as well as the original plaques from the Crab Island Monument.  Group tours are available by appointment.  Visit The History Shoppe for War of 1812 related gifts.
