As a new addition to the Mayor’s Cup Festival, the Church Oil Boat Parade of Lights event will feature boats of all types and sizes in a judged event. This lighted parade of boats will start at the Wilcox Dock and proceed down past the Plattsburgh Boat Basin while captain and crew compete for “best of show.”  Prizes will be awarded.

 

FRIDAY

Ground Round/Coke Splash Party Cruise Fri, July 6, 7-10pM

Tickets:  $35 per person (maximum boat capacity – 219 persons)

Another new addition to the Mayor’s Cup Festival is the Friday evening pre-race splash party aboard the “Adirondack” ferry, featuring live music by the Blind Pig Blues Band compliments of the Naked Turtle Holding Co. Lite fare and cash bar will be offered. Ticket holders will board from the wWilcoxDdock for a 3-hour cruise on Lake Champlain with premium viewing of the Casella fireworks display as the grand finale.

Featuring Barefoot Truth, this beach concert under the stars is slated to be the “hottest” party on the “coolest” night of the Festival...AND the prime viewing location for the Casella Fireworks display on the waterfront at 9:30PM . Available for the 21+ crowd is the Budweiser Beer Garden (no alcoholic beverages permitted through the gate). Free taxi rides will be provided compliments of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti. Call 1-800-LAW-1010 Weather permitting, the Remax.com Hot Air Balloon and Price Chopper Kid Hopper will be on site to entertain the kids.

 

SATURDAY

Remax.com Family Observation Cruise Sat, July 7, 9:30am

With some families having limited access to Lake Champlain , the Sunrise Rotary Club has added two family cruises to this year’s Mayor’s Cup Regatta. Each group of 219 observers will board “The Adirondack ” at the Plattsburgh Boat Basin for a 1½ hour cruise and up close view of the regatta in the Cumberland Bay . The “Friendly Pirate,” sponsored by UFirst Credit Union , will entertain the younger sailor wannabes.

Martin, Harding, and Mazzotti are giving away 500 helmets to the first 500 kids during Family Bike Safety Day. Safety instruction will be provided by the Adirondack Cycling Team and the Placid Planet Racing Team, with additional giveaways for lucky winners.

Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Mayor’s

Cup Regatta Sat, July 7, 9:30-1pM

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Mayor’s Cup regatta, the signature event of the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club. These competitive races in the Cruising, Monohull, and Multihull divisions will feature approximately 100 sailboats competing for the coveted Mayor’s Cup trophy. Awards ceremony at 6:00PM on the waterfront at the Naked Turtle.

Festival Parade

Location:  Along the Plattsburgh waterfront (from Cumberland Ave to the Old Base)  

This year, the City of Plattsburgh will move the July 4th parade to Saturday, July 7th, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Cup Festival. A family parade with a long tradition is expected to draw large crowds of supporters as in years past.

Tickets:  $12 per person. On Sale at the Rotary Hospitality Desk at the Naked Turtle      between 7:00AM-3:30PM

Closing out the 30th annual Mayor’s Cup Regatta is the waterfront awards ceremony and BBQ at the Naked Turtle Holding Company. Trophies awarded to various sailing divisions with the coveted Mayor’s Cup going to the “best overall.” This event is open to landlubbers as well as sailors.
