Lake Champlain offers a chance to catch walleyes, northern pike, lake trout, land-locked Atlantic salmon, big and small mouth bass, perch, and even burbot and bowfin. Boaters will find a boat launch and parking at the Lakefront Park, with another located south on Route 9 at the Peru Town site. As the summer progresses and the waters warm, fish move deeper into the lake, so be prepared to do some deep line fishing. The usual array of lures and bait work well, although some swear by the Lake Clear Wobbler as the lure of choice. Lake Champlain is a BIG lake (the sixth biggest freshwater lake in the US), and storms come up quickly, so remember to wear your life vest.
