    Plattsburgh and its surrounding area offer a wide variety of leisure activities. Major Festivals include The Mayor's Cup and Independence Day Celebration, The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Weekend.

     Within the City of Plattsburgh there are four parks on forty-six acres that include tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, lighted baseball and football fields, playgrounds and skating rinks. The City's Civic Center hosts a variety of trade shows, events and indoor soccer.

   In and around the city are five golf courses, three museums, four art galleries, a public library, two miniature golf courses, five major shopping centers, two movie complexes, theatres, and three health clubs.

    The City of Plattsburgh rests on the shores of Lake Champlain and has its own beach and picnic area on the waterfront. Lake Champlain, a vast and magnificent inland sea, is 121 miles long and 12 miles across at its broadest point. 100 feet above sea level and surrounded by mountains rising to 5,000 feet, its setting is as dramatic as any in Europe or the American West. It is a spectacular place for boating, wind surfing, or fishing, enjoyed each year by residents and visitors alike.

    Within one hour's drive, the Adirondack Mountains / Lake Placid Region offers both winter and summer outdoor recreation including downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobile/ATV trails, camping, hiking and backpacking.

    Plattsburgh is one hour form Montreal with world class symphony, ballet, opera, concerts, museums, galleries, sporting events and historical walking tours of center city area.
