The museum interprets daily life during the late eighteenth through the early twentieth centuries. The inhabitants of the house, members of the Delord family and their servants and tenants, are the focus of the museum’s programs. Their lives were touched by the Battle of Plattsburgh, the Civil War, the temperance movement, and other events and issues of national importance. The permanent exhibition includes household furnishings, personal items, portraits and kitchen and outdoor equipment from the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries. Changing exhibitions focus on various topics. Specialized tours and demonstrations are available by request. The museum educator also offers resource materials and programming to teachers. The museum’s manuscript collection, which includes some 28,000 family documents, is available to researchers at Feinberg Library Special Collections Department on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. The museum grounds and classroom are available for private functions and meetings.
