Police Arrest 2 For Possession of Drugs and a Handgun

PRESS RELEASE

“City Police arrest 2 people in possession of Drugs and a Handgun”

 

DATE OF RELEASE: November 6th, 2017

TIME OF RELEASE:  11:00 am


On Saturday October 28th , 2017 Members of the Plattsburgh Police Department Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the New York State Police and the Adirondack DEA Task Force, stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Peru as a result of a lengthy narcotics investigation.  Upon execution of a search warrant on the vehicle and occupants officers recovered approximately 19.5 grams of heroin, approximately 130.5 grams of crack/cocaine and a loaded handgun.

 

The street value of the narcotics seized is approximately $23,000 dollars.

As a result of the investigation police arrested the following individuals:

 

Marquail J. Jones,   DOB: 05/15/89 age 28, of Syracuse, NY 

Charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree an “A2” felony
  • Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree a class “B” felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree a class “C” felony

Jones appeared before the Hon. James Kirby in Peru Town Court and was committed to the Clinton County Jail with no bail. 


Jerald  L.  Brodus, DOB: 01/11/96 age 21, of Syracuse, NY

Charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree an “A2” felony
  • Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree a class “B” felony
  • Criminal Possession of a firearm a class “E” felony

Brodus appeared before the Hon. James Kirby in Peru Town Court and was committed to the Clinton County Jail with no bail.


Mayor Read commented, “This is but one more example of dangerous drugs and arms being brought into the City from other regions of the State. Not only does this imperil city residents, but it also threatens our surrounding areas. I’m grateful for the cooperation between our various police forces and the surrounding areas as we try to stem the opioid problem in our region.”
